I have returned most gloriously to the wet coast.
The vacation was alright, but not all that restful. The first place we stayed had a night club in part of the hotel, and they played their music so loud that my bedsprings shook until 2am. Second place i shared my bed with ants, spiders and earwigs, and the third... admitedly wasn't that bad (my aunt is clean, and the house is in the middle of nowhere), but for some reason i couldn't sleep.
But that's okay. I still had fun.
Adventures varied from being on a zodiac and having its engine die and water rush in over the floor, in the middle of lake Huron, to meeting HunterBahamut face to face. There was also a near miss with a tornado, and several really stupid squirrels.
I have come to two very important conclusions about Ontario;
it's flat, and there's not a whole lot there besides farms. Also, Red Bay (on the Bruce Peninsula) is a portal to another dimension of cellular
HELL.
speaking of cellular hell, i'm looking at a 200$ phone bill next month, because someone at my phone company couldn't get their information straight, and told me that even in other provinces, incoming calls were free. aparently they're not. not at all. they're actually pretty expensive. thank goodness for the little 'you're getting close to your credit limit' text they send. but... it's still really frustrating. for an extra 30$ i could have avoided that mess all together before i left. but hind-sight is 20-20.
so... i've cut the price of sketch commissions in hopes of getting a few more. I could really use the funds right now, since this bill sets me back a
LOT in my 'functional computer' and 'AC' funds. (not to be confused with 'school', 'textbooks,' and 'transit' funds.)
ah well.
i had an
awsome birthday. i spend the day at Niagara falls doing typical tourist things like the Maid of the Mist, Behind the Falls Tour, and (wtf they got rid of the butterflies) Niagara's Fury.
after that my parents and i got ready and went over to the American Falls and we met up with HunterBahamut and his parents, and went out for dinner... which was epic win. i think we sat at the restaurant for over three hours talking, then headed out and hung around the falls for another three.
it was quite possibly the best birthday i've had since i was 10.
